Improvements Underway on Netherfield Lane Following Community Meeting

Lane repaired by The National Grid
On 11th March, Grant and Alison from the Webster Estates project team met neighbours on Netherfield Lane to discuss a number of issues, including antisocial behaviour, fly tipping and drainage. The local police had already met with Sam from Webster Estates. Councillors were invited to attend, and Cllr Eric Buckmaster from HCC and Parish Cllr Geoff Hayter (also a neighbour) came for a stroll and a chat along the lane.
During the meeting various action points were agreed and taken away by everyone. Within days of the meeting this was a message we received from one of the neighbours:
“The bottom section of the lane between the nursery and Ryegate Farmhouse has now been repaired by The National Grid. There is urgent repair work needed on a number of pylons and they said the lane as it was, could not be used to bring up very large/heavy vehicles and equipment so they have resurfaced as much as possible. Amazing timing, you will agree.
The police have put up signs and have made contact with some residents.
After trying to get help with Netherfield Lane for close to 30 years, it is amazing progress. Thank you all again.”
We are delighted that we were able to bring everyone together and get some positive results. It’s what good neighbours do! We are also tidying up some of the boundary along the lane to ensure it doesn’t look too unkempt and drainage soak aways are cleared where we control the land.
